52 D'MENSIONS MAGAZINE WINTER 2026 ALUMNI NEWS Joanne Haefner (’00) was honored with a C-Level Executive Award at Buffalo Business First’s C-Level and Hall of Fame event last fall. Haefner is the chief executive officer at Neighborhood Health Center of WYN Inc. Dr. Emmanuel Oduro (’17 PharmD) launched a social intervention initiative, the Dr. Oduro Foundation, aimed at supporting communities through healthcare, education and community development. The foundation is a compassionate force for change founded by Oduro with a mission to positively impact lives across Ghana and the United States. “Through free medical outreach programmes, scholarships, and social initiatives, we’re building healthier, stronger communities. Together, we can make a lasting difference one life at a time,” he said. James Harrington (’22 MBA) was named president of the Minority Bar Association of Western New York in 2025. Harrington joined the Erie County District Attorney’s Office in 2021 and before that served in the office’s Justice Courts Bureau where he handled cases in Amherst, Boston and Blasdell town courts. Dr. Walter Iwanenko Jr. (’93) was featured by Buffalo Business First in December in its Who’s Who: Education for his work as the president of Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Iwanenko was named a Distinguished Alumnus of D’Youville in 2024, the same year he was named a “Trailblazer in Higher Education” by City & State PA. Iwanenko was named Gannon’s eighth president in July 2023. He served as D’Youville’s chair of the Health Services Administration Department from 2005-2011 and chair of the Business program from 2010-2011. SEND US YOUR NEWS! JOYCE MARKIEWICZ (’80), D’Youville alumna and current member of the Board of Trustees, was recognized as one of the Top 50 leaders on City & State NY’s 2025 Upstate Power 100 list, highlighting her exceptional leadership and lasting impact across New York’s upstate region. Markiewicz, president and CEO of Catholic Health, was selected for this prestigious list of influential leaders from government, business, healthcare, academia and civic sectors. The annual Upstate Power 100 celebrates individuals whose achievements and influence shape policy and progress throughout upstate New York. A registered nurse and seasoned healthcare executive, Markiewicz assumed the role of President & CEO of Catholic Health in September 2023. Under her leadership, the health system has prioritized workforce development including awarding full scholarships for staff education and negotiated key agreements that support frontline caregivers. She also oversees major initiatives such as the development of Lockport Memorial Hospital and expanded patient care services. “We are incredibly proud to see Joyce honored on the Upstate Power 100,” said D’Youville President Dr. Lorrie Clemo. “Her leadership exemplifies the values of service, integrity, and community commitment we cherish at D’Youville.
