Charles Riolo, already in charge of EISA’s administration and accounts since the death of Walter Blaser, was unanimously elected secretary-treasurer. Secretary of the rowing section of the Lausanne Sports Club, he became in 1953 the secretary of the Swiss Rowing Federation. Joining the FISA council in 1956, he occupied the post of secretary- treasurer for 21 years. His work was recognized by the IOC in 197fj, when it awarded him the bronze medal of the Olympic Order. He made an equally significant contribution to the development of the General Association of International Sports Federations, whose treasurer he became in 1968.
