Send your information to Ross Squire at [email protected]. How Will You Close 2024? W E HAVE THE 2024 ALOA Convention and Security Expo behind us, and it was a great success with excellent classes, networking, camaraderie and exhibi- tors. Congratulations to the ALOA staff, board and volunteers. Attendance was up, classes were great, the show was busy, and evening seminars were back with more creative offerings than ever. (Great job, education department!) It was encouraging and reminiscent of years past to see the high level of activ- ity at the Security Expo. The end of an ALOA Convention is also a good milestone event. So, here we are at the end of the summer, entering autumn with the end of 2024 not that far away. Do you know how you want to end the year professionally and personally? Now is the time to do a pulse check to see if you are on track for your yearly goals. Ask yourself what accomplishments would make 2024 a “good year” for you, your career, your family or your busi- ness. Then determine what adjustments you need to make now to be sure you are on track for those accomplishments. As for IAIL, we had a good showing again this year. Our forensic track of education offerings was larger than ever, with seven days of classes consisting of both certification prerequisites and spe- cialty electives. The new forensics work- shop lab class was a hit and will become one of our main offerings going forward. Division Membership Meeting IAIL also held its annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, July 25, at the ALOA Convention at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The meet- ing was very well attended, went longer than its allotted time and generated many spirited discussions on the direction of the division. There were many good ideas and suggestions, which I and the IAIL Board very much appreciated. It is good to see that people care about this division. Many people offered to get involved, and I shall be reaching out to pull them in as one of our objectives to complete in 2024. As a taste of things to come, we agreed to work to evaluate the possibility of an educational summit in 2025, possibly in concert with another (larger) forensic association event. More to come on that. Meanwhile, if you can, plan to join us at upcoming events: GSX (September 23-25 in Orlando), GPLA 75th Anniver- sary (September 25-28 in Philadelphia) and Yankee Security Convention (Octo- ber 24-October 28 in Springfield, MA). Peter Field and I will be teaching our one-day “High Security Cylinders from Around the World” class. Please stop by to say hi and share your story! Clyde T.
