aloa.org September 2024 Keynotes 21 A LOA SPAI RETURNED TO LAS Vegas July 22-28 for the 2024 ALOA Convention & Security Expo. More than 1,400 security industry professionals joined us to learn in hands-on classes taught by the industry’s best instructors, see the latest products and network — all while having a great time. We were back at the South Point Hotel & Casino, the site of the 2022 conven- tion. This is always a great venue for us: convenient facilities, multiple on-site restaurants plus so many entertainment options. Classes received enthusiastic reviews, and students enjoyed the opportunity to take free evening seminars. This was a wonderful new addition for this year, with multiple class options on each of four nights — one night, there were seven options to choose from! Thank you so much to the instructors who stepped up to teach these, and we were happy to see so many students opt for extra instruction. The two-day Security Expo had a packed show floor. There were a lot of product demonstrations, opportunities for connecting with suppliers and so many prizes handed out. Classes were well attended, and we had several new ones for students to take. Classes are a great way to meet new people, and there were several other opportunities for connecting at events and meetings. Each of our divisions (minus SAVTA) had a membership meeting followed by a division board meeting to plan for their 2025 budgets. Stay tuned for news about upcoming ways to enhance divi- sion benefits and member participation. Next year is all about growth! We hope you had a fantastic time in Las Vegas! Thank you so much to every- one who made this convention a success: attendees, instructors, board members, volunteers, exhibitors and staff. It takes a lot of coordination to put on the conven- tion, but the end result is so well worth it — more opportunities for attendees, and a better-connected industry. There will be opportunities to join other divisions with- out completing an application or paying a full year of dues. Do so by completing the add-on option enclosed with the invoice. Joining a division is a great way to connect with new people, learn new skills and enhance your career.
