aloa.org September 2024 Keynotes 5 PRESIDENTIAL PERSPECTIVE In May, we have IAAL’s Auto Lock Expo in Cedar Rapids, IA. Help Further the Industry Want to give back to this wonderful vocation that you are in? If you are an older locksmith, contact Associate Education Director John Hubel to see if you can be a mentor to a younger locksmith who is just starting out. Why let all your knowledge die? Pass it along, and help another security professional. Want to serve on the ALOA SPAI Board? Check out what you need to do on our website, or contact [email protected] for more information. You need to get your information and forms over to ALOA headquarters by early spring. This is a great way to make an impact on the industry and to help move ALOA SPAI forward. I hope to see more of you at the various events the rest of this year and next. A FTER A GREAT SUMMER, IT’S HARD to think it’s September already. The ALOA Convention is now over, and it was a great success. COVID-19 hit us hard (as well as most organizations), but it looks like we are getting back on track. Classes were well attended, and all the events went well. The Educa- tion Department tried a new thing this year: free evening seminars. A lot of them, and they covered many topics. They were designed to give you max- imum benefit in minimum time. If you attended the convention, you got your money back in the seminars alone. If you did not make it, plan for next year starting today. If you put $10 or $15 a day in a special fund, your classes and your travel would be covered. By taking classes, you’ll learn a new skill that will make you more money. And that is what you are in this profession for — to make money. While the ALOA Convention is over, we have a few industry events coming up. The Greater Philadelphia Locksmith Association (GPLA) convention is coming up. This is the 75th anniversary convention, and it will also be the last one. It will be held September 25-29 at the LIVE! Casino and Hotel in Philadelphia. Go to www.gpla.org/convention to sign up or learn more. Yankee Security Convention is also this fall, Octo- ber 23-27 at Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. Learn more at www.yankeesecurity.org. On the Horizon While you’re planning for events for the rest of 2024, don’t forget that we have a few important ones coming up in the spring as well. SAFETECH returns April 7-12 in Lexington, KY. Join us there for five days of classes, a trade show, events and more. Bill Mandlebaum, CML President ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc.
