He’s anxious to give some money away to anyone who can open his Group 2M lock in under two hours.” t was a great week at SAFETECH in April, and things went pretty smoothly. The ALOA staff did a fantastic job of pulling it off. One thing we leſt out of the conven- tion coverage in the previous issue is that Michael Walsh of Big Red locks has some cash that is still burning a hole in his pocket. He’s anxious to give some money away to anyone who can open his Group 2M lock in under two hours. We still haven’t had anyone succeed, and next year we plan to expand the Big Red challenge a bit. We’re going to add S&G and LA GARD Group 2M locks to the manipula- tion contest as an advanced division. We are still working out some details and not sure what the grand prize will be yet, but we’ll make sure it’s a great one. But now it’s time to get caught up and, yep, it’s time to get the ball rolling on SAFETECH 2023, 2024 and 2025. Here are some dates to remember: ALOA 2022 - July 24-30, Las Vegas, NV SAFETECH 2023 - April 17-22, Reno NV ALOA 2023 - August 6-12, Orlando, FL SAFETECH 2024 - April 22-27, Tulsa, OK SAFETECH 2025 - Lexington, KY ALOA 2022 in Las Vegas If you were unable to attend SAFETECH this year, the ALOA Convention in Las Vegas is another good chance to take some safe classes. We will be at the South Point Hotel & Casino July 24-30. There will be classes on manipulation, electronic safe lock servicing, mechanical lock basics and a basic safe drilling class. If you have some newbies, send them to take classes and get a good foundation. For you more experienced techs, it’s also never a bad idea to brush up on some basics. You can also take some forensics classes to work toward your CFL – Safes and Vaults credential.
