He is responsible for promoting and securing contracts for Menard’s design- build ground improvement solutions including Controlled Modulus Columns™, Bi-Modulus Columns, Wick Drains, Vibro Densification, Vibro Stone Columns, Rapid Impact Compaction, Dynamic Compac- tion™ and Dynamic Replacement™. Simmons has more than 25 years of experience and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Menard also announced the relocation of its Pittsburgh-based corporate head- quarters to accommodate the company’s continued growth. The new address is 150 Main Street, Carnegie, PA 15106, and the new phone number is 412-620-6000. The new corporate offices are located in a building constructed by the Masons in 1904 and has had several uses over the years including a music hall in the 1950s. DBM Contractors, Inc. announced its manage- ment succession plan. Todd Jarvis, current CFO, wi l l be come president and CEO in the fall of 2014. Current president, Tom Armour, will remain with the company as executive vice president, project/ product development, developing and managing project leads, leading product research and development as well as continuing with DBM’s board management. Armour began his career with DBM in 1994 as business devel- opment manager and became president in 1997. During his tenure the company has seen a five-fold increase in annual income and book value. Jarvis was hired in 1991 and became DBM’s CFO in 2004. After four years as the general manager of Soldata and 12 years within the Soletanche Freyssinet Group, Boris Caro Vargas joined Nicholson Construction as leader of the business development group. Caro Vargas holds a degree in structural engineering from the University of Caminos, Madrid and two graduate degrees in civil engineering, one from Ponts Paris Tech and one from the University of Roma II. Mark Rothbauer joined Nicholson Construction as the regional manager for the Mid-Atlantic division. Rothbauer previ- ously worked as a project manager for Nicholson’s sister company, Menard USA. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. Dennis (Bud) Triplett, who has been with the company for 10 years, will join Rothbauer in the Mid- Atlantic region as the operations manager. Triplett was previously a project manager for Nicholson’s Mid-Atlantic region. Aaron Evans, who has been with Nicholson for the past eight years, will be the region’s business development manager. Nicholson Construction was also recently awarded a contract for repair work at Grant County Public Utility District’s Wanapum Dam in Central Washington. Overall repairs to the dam are estimated at $61 million. Nicholson’s repair work on the dam includes coring in the gallery to map features, drilling and installing anchors at each pier, installing uphole drains in the gallery and installing bars on the ogee. All repair work on the dam is expected to be complete by the end of the year. Schnabel Engineering, Inc., Glen Allen, Va., announced the colocation of the Richmond-area offices at its new headquarters: 9800 JEB Stuart Parkway, Suites 100 and 200, Glen Allen, VA 23059. Schnabel’s office, formerly located in downtown Richmond will occupy Suite 100, while the former corporate headquarters will occupy Suite 200. Schnabel purchased the building in January 2014, to better serve clients under one roof . Jacobs Associates announced the addition of Karl Assi, Joel Kantola, Blake Rothfuss and Kent Winger to the position of prin- cipal. Karl Assi, CPEng, manages the Melbourne office and has more than 20 years of experience in tunneling and structural engineering on a wide range of transportation, water and wastewater projects. Joel Kantola, P.E., has more than 25 years of experience working as a program manager, con- tractor, designer, construction manager and geotechnical engineer on soft ground and hard rock tunnel projects for storm water, sewage, water, subway and highway tun- nels. Blake Rothfuss, P.E., D.WRE, has more than 30 years of engineering experience on heavy civil projects and currently serves as project manager and owner’s engineer for Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s under- ground pumped storage project. Kent Winger, P.E., has more than 25 years of experience providing construction dispute resolution, scheduling and contractor per- formance analysis consulting services.
