NEWS BRIEFS ALCEA, an ASSA ABLOY company and global provider of security solutions for critical infrastructure, has announced Jeff Slaughter as its head of business development. Based in Dallas, he reports to Dom- inique Jardin, who was appointed as ALCEA’s vice president, head of Americas, six months ago. Slaughter previously ran his own security integration firm in Dallas, delivering large-scale access con- trol, video, intrusion detection and automation systems for customers for five years. He becomes just the third president in the company’s 50-year history, following founder Chuck Jurgensen and current President and CEO Dave Prouty, who will continue in his role as CEO until his planned retirement in late 2026. Pertman has nearly three decades of lead- ership experience across Stanley Black & Decker, Allegion and Jeld-Wen, including launching the Craftsman program in partnership with Lowe’s. It features a new design, easier navigation, the My DHI portal and expanded learning in the DHI Threshold Learning Center. The Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) has updated its Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) credential and exam process. There are now updated pathways that recognize both education and industry experience, plus a revised exam format and clearer exam guidance. Part 1 of the exam is now delivered online with remote proctoring through Prolydian, while Parts 2 and 3 are completed in person during the Classroom Series or at a DHI Canada Event. It has a compact, modern and intuitive design combined with portability, and replaces the Futura Auto Machine. It features a four-position rotating jaw, a built-in tablet, an integrated and portable handle, quiet operation and a chip tray to collect shavings. No tip stop is required, and it has a copy-by-original function and simple electronic calibration. The machine also has a dealer code menu option to quickly enter manufacturer key codes. Ilco has released the EVOX key-cutting machine, which replaces the Futura Auto Machine.
