As part of the anniversary celebration, Atlas Copco North America donated $60,000 to New York City-based “charity: water,” a global non-profit dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. The donation brings Atlas Copco’s total charity: water giving to $161,000 since 2010, with the company’s employee-run Water for All organization donating more than $239,000. Dave Pietrzykowski was appointed vice president- Parts and Service for Atlas Copco CMT U.S. Pietrzykowski had served as vice president, Store Operations. He started with Atlas Copco as the business line manager for rental fleet and used equipment, then went on to serve as business line manager for rock drilling tools. He has also been a sales engineer, worldwide marketing manager and vice president of sales and marketing. In his new role, Pietrzykowski will retain full respon- sibility for all parts and service operations including customer service, inventory control, logistics and procurement. John S. McCartney, Ph.D., an assistant professor at the University of Color- ado, Boulder, Colo., r e c e i v ed the 2013 President’s Leadership Award from ASTM International. The Award is presented to two ASTM members annually. This year’s other recipient is William C. Griese, standards development and green initiative manager at the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) in Anderson, S.C. In 2011, McCartney received the D18 Richard S. Ladd Standards Development Award for his contributions to ASTM D7664, Standard Test Methods for Measurement of Hydraulic Conductivity of Unsaturated Soils, and was the guest editor for a special issue on unsaturated soil mechanics for the ASTM Geotechnical Testing Journal. McCartney joined the University of Colorado Boulder faculty in 2008. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he received a B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering, McCartney earned his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Peter Redaelli is a new product manager for Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA’s Rock Drilling Tools business line, and will be based in Grand Prairie, Texas. Redaelli’s first project is the launch of Atlas Copco’s specialty drilling consumables such as its line of Polycrystalline Diamond Compact premium products. He will spearhead marketing and sales strategies for all U.S. market segments; provide guidance to support representatives, store personnel and independent distributors; ensure product availability; and coordinate marketplace exposure.
