Chapter 4: AFEP WALKING COMBINATIONS • Walk forward leading with heel, roll to ball of foot and push off with toes. Swing arms opposite to legs. • Walk backward beginning with toes, push ball of foot down and roll to heel. Swing arms opposite to leg. PROGRESSIONS • Increase stride length. • Move at a faster pace. LEG VARIATIONS • March, lifting knees progressively higher. • Walk forward in circle, clockwise and counterclockwise directions. • Box Pattern: Forward Walk x3, pause / Side Step x3, pause / Backward Walk x3, pause / Side Step x3, pause. ARM VARIATIONS • Add Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist & Finger Exercises to change intensity and add variety. DANCE STEPS STEP TOUCH • Step to right, touch with the left. • Step to left, touch with the right. SIDE STEP • Extend left foot to side and step down. Bring right foot in to meet it. • Repeat 4 steps to the left. • Clap hands as you step your foot down, or swing arms side to side. • Repeat pattern, starting with right foot. RUMBA • Start with right foot, walk 3 steps forward & tap the left foot in place. Clap the hands as the foot taps. Cue: Walk -2 -3 & tap. • Start with left foot, walk 3 steps backward & tap the right foot in place. Clap the hands as the foot taps. Cue: Walk -2 -3 & tap. • Side step to right for 3 steps & kick left foot forward. Cue: Right, together, right & kick. • Side step to left for 3 steps & kick right foot forward. Cue: Left, together, left & kick. BOX STEP • Side step & step touch, to the right. Cue: Right, together, right & tap. • Walk 4 steps backward (L, R, L, R). • Side step & step touch, to the left.
