43 2025 Nursing Annual Report EBPI: Translating Evidence Into Clinical Practice Sharp nurses are exceptional in translating evidence into clinical practice for enhanced decision- making and better outcomes. A key factor is Sharp’s collaboration with the local professional nursing community through the Evidence-Based Practice Institute (EBPI), offered by the San Diego Consortium for Excellence in Nursing and Allied Health. At the November 14, 2025, EBPI virtual conference and graduation ceremony, 52 project teams from across San Diego County, composed of mentors and fellows, graduated from the program. A total of 58 nurses across Sharp hospitals completed 21 projects encompassing a diverse range of innovations. These innovations will be evaluated for spread throughout Sharp. The San Diego Consortium for Excellence in Nursing and Allied Health’s EBPI is designed to provide an innovative staff development and mentorship model to empower clinicians in all areas of practice to participate in advancing practice through evidence-based change. The model offers professional development opportunities for mentor-fellow dyads, resulting in enhanced job satisfaction and team cohesion. The institute extends over nine months (March through November), providing theory and experiential learning opportunities. The dyads implement an evidence-based practice change project in their practice environment. The curriculum is designed using participant-centered, practice-based learning approaches to knowledge transfer.
