Send your information to Ross Squire at [email protected]. Plan for the ALOA Convention N EXT MONTH IS THE 2024 ALOA Convention and Security Expo in Las Vegas. I hope you have made your plans to attend the conven- tion and take some classes, or that you have at least started to think about it. IAIL will have a strong presence again this year in education and events. In addition to the annual membership and board meetings, we will have a full array consisting of up to seven days of classes, both certification prerequisites and specialty electives. They are: 105/205 - Investigative Locksmithing — two days, mandatory for CFL 305 - Photography for Locksmiths — mandatory for CFL 213 - Basic Forensic Tool Marks for Investigative Locksmiths — manda- tory for CFL 313 - Advanced Forensic Tool Marks for Investigative Locksmiths 413 - How to Prepare to be a Forensic Investigator But wait, there’s more! Just added for Friday, we are working on the final details for an exciting, all-new-material, hands-on class: Specialty Workshop on Tool Marks from Bypass and Attack Techniques. This will be complete with a photography lab, bypass tools, sam- ple cylinders and locks, slide reference examples, and disassembly tools and procedures — all set up for students to learn the art of forensic cylinder bypass toolmark examination from start to finish. This class will be divided into: 1) a slide show of many examples of tool marks from at least 10 bypass attacks; 2) hands-on cylinder forensic exam- inations in both group and individual formats; 3) live photographic lab setup and procedures practice; and 4) legal hygiene, best practices and errors to avoid. I’m also happy to report that we’ll be introducing the newly revised, and much improved, Forensic Locksmith Manual at the convention. It will be part of your lab fee for the Investigative Locksmithing class, and it will also be available to order at the ALOA Bookstore. Don’t miss this exceptional educa- tional and networking opportunity! If you have any questions about these classes or any other potential educa- tional opportunities, please feel free to reach out to me or to education@aloa. org. See you in Las Vegas! Clyde T. Roberson, CML, AHC, CPP, CMST, CFMST, AMKS, is President of the International Associ- ation of Investigative Locksmiths. Email him at [email protected].
