6 KEYNOTES DECEMBER 2022 WWW.ALOA.ORG EXECUTIVE PERSPECTIVE I t’s been quite the year — both at ALOA SPAI and throughout the world in gen- eral. As we’ve moved back to “normal” life in many ways, ALOA has continued to resume activities as well. We were able to return to hold- ing SAVTA’s beloved SAFETECH Con- vention, and we held a successful ALOA Convention in Las Vegas. We also saw the return of in-person classes in Dal- las at our training center. It felt great to once again be able to host students here, and we look forward to doing more of that next year. And while in-person classes returned, our webinars flourished as well. This has been one of the best things that came out of the pandemic. What began as a neces- sity is now a true asset for our members. We know you love the convenience of being able to learn from your home or office, and we hope to continue growing this part of our educational offerings. The IAAL One of the biggest accomplishments of this year for ALOA was getting our new automotive division — the International Association of Automotive Locksmiths (IAAL) — up and running. ALOA has long recognized that the automotive sec- tor of the industry has become increas- ingly specialized, and it will only contin- ue to grow and become more focused. We are so excited to be able to have a division that caters specifically to the needs of automotive specialists, and I hope you’ll soon join if you’re among those ranks. You can find the application as well as bylaws and code of ethics on the IAAL tab on ALOA.org. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or suggestions, and keep your eye out on ALOA.org and in Keynotes for upcoming news — we have some major IAAL announcements coming soon! Podcast The Locksmith Talk With ALOA podcast has also returned for new episodes. If you haven’t listened, it’s an entertaining and informative way to spend some time. You can listen in your favorite player, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Audible, Ama- zon and more. The latest episode as of press time is an automotive roundtable discussion. Renew Your Membership As a reminder, if you don’t renew by De- cember 31, your ALOA SPAI member- ship will then expire. That means you’ll lose your access to member benefits like receiving Keynotes, professional bond- ing, listing in FindALocksmith, referrals and more. You’ll also lose your discount on ALOA classes and convention regis- trations — that alone can pay for your membership! With some exciting convention an- nouncements coming soon, you don’t want to lose your membership access. You should have received your dues no- tice in your email inbox, but you can also go to www.aloamembers.org and sign in to view your invoice and pay there. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at member- [email protected] or (214) 819-9733. We are always here for you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holi- day season. Stay safe, and we will see you next year. Don’t forget to send in your ALOA board elections nomination forms! See pages 15 and 16 for more information. Mary A.
