32 Required Administrative Withdrawal for Non-Academic Reasons Wagner College is committed to the well-being and safety of its community members and the integrity of its learning environment. The College may require a student to take an administrative withdrawal if there is a sufficient information showing that the student is engaging or is likely to engage in behavior that presents a real danger of substantial harm to self or others or substantially disrupts the learning environment and activities of the campus community. This policy and associated procedures do not take the place of disciplinary action associated with a student’s behavior that is in violation of College policies or standards. This policy is to be invoked in extraordinary circumstances in which, in the discretion of the Dean of Campus Life or designee, the student conduct process cannot be applied. This policy may be invoked when a student is unable or unwilling to request a voluntary withdrawal and the Dean of Campus Life or designee deems a withdrawal necessary to protect the health and safety of the student or others, or the integrity of the learning environment and campus community. Examples of such extraordinary circumstances include, but are not limited to: suicidal threats, self-starvation or purging behavior, ongoing substance abuse or addiction, serious threats of harm to self or others, or bizarre or destructive behavior. Before a required administrative withdrawal is considered, the Dean of Campus Life or designee may encourage the student to take a voluntary withdrawal. As needed, the Dean of Campus Life or designee will work with the student and their family to formulate a plan for returning. Reservation and Use of Campus Space How to Reserve Space. Only SGA-recognized student organizations may schedule the use of campus meeting facilities. Student Organizations must be registered on Presence by completing the transition form prior to the start of the fall semester. The organization executive board members will be able to complete the Event Registration Form to request use of space. Space is at the discretion of Student Engagement & Activities Staff and based on availability. Deadlines. Campus space must be booked at least a week in advance of the event. Please note that events involving catering services should be scheduled with the college dining service office at least two weeks prior to the event. Additionally, the Music Performance Center cannot be reserved until the third week of the semester. Room Set-Up, Media, and Catering. If the event requires additional resources including media, set up, or catering you must set up a meeting with a member of Student Engagement & Activities about your event. You can set up a meeting by emailing [email protected]. Chaperones. Chaperones may be required when an event has a potential of having 75 or more guests (students or visitors), when events have historically been large parties, when attendance is open to college students from other institutions, when cash is required for entry, and when alcohol use or space capacity is of concern. The ultimate decision for a chaperone lies with the Director of Student Engagement & Activities. The Director of Student Engagement & Activities will contact the event requester if a chaperone is needed. Security. Security may be required for student organization events or activities as determined by the Director of Student Engagement & Activities and the Director of Campus Safety. In some instances, the need for security may require compensation for overtime hours, which will be the responsibility of the sponsoring student organization. Some events, typically those with attendees outside of the Wagner community, may require detail from the New York Police Department, as determined by Student Engagement & Activities and Campus Safety. Fees for such detail will also be the responsibility of the sponsoring student organization. No external security personnel are permitted for any event unless arrangements have been made with Student Engagement & Activities and Campus Safety. Time Restrictions. From Sunday through Thursday evenings, campus space cannot be reserved or used past midnight. On Friday and Saturday evenings, campus space cannot be reserved or used past 2:00 AM the next morning. However, student performance organizations must end regularly scheduled rehearsals before midnight. Scheduling Considerations. All student organizations are asked to minimize conflicts between organization events, academic and departmental events, and campus life events, dates for all of which should be accessible via the campus
