So far he is do- ing just that. When it comes to coordinating in- structors for conventions or ACE classes, ALOA SPAI’s new Associate Director of Education John K. Hubel is usually doing so behind the scenes. John is a Certified Master Locksmith (CML), Institution- al Certified Master Locksmith (ICML), Certified Master Institutional Locksmith (CMIL), Certified ACE Instructor (CAI) and holds a master’s degree in educa- tion (M.Ed.). He started his career as a locksmith in 1975 when he established a locksmith business with his brother. John also pursued a career as a licensed aircraft mechanic and taught aircraft mainte- nance after earning his bachelor’s de- gree in education. While teaching, he obtained his highest certification level in locksmithing and continued his educa- tion by earning a master’s degree in ad- ministration. John is a lifetime member of ALOA and has received the prestigious ALOA Lifetime Achievement Award. He works closely with the Director of Educa- tion to enhance locksmith education and certification. And then there’s that other guy, ALOA SPAI’S Director of Education William M. Lynk. Yep, that’s me. I was appointed to this position last year, bringing in over 40 years of experience in the locksmith in- dustry, business sector and education ar- eas. As a CML, CPS, ICML, CMIL, CAI, and M.Ed., some say I am well-respected for my expertise and have been recog- nized for various contributions to the field, including receiving the ALOA Life- time Achievement Award, and am thank- ful for all of that. I am an active member of the ALOA community, past chairman of the LIST Council, a published author, a recipient of the ACE Instructor of the Year Award, have volunteered for the ALOA Scholarship Foundation and have served as the North Central Director on the ALOA Board of Directors. Few know that I was a piano minor in college and still enjoy performing for small groups playing my Grotrian-Steinweg Concert Grand Piano in my living room! In my new position, I can truly say that I am committed to advancing the field of locksmithing through my passion for education and my dedication to making a positive impact on ALOA Education to benefit all members, future members and the association. Well, there — now we know a little bit more about those who are steer- ing the “education ship” as it travels through both stormy and calm waters.
