The PRP-31 exam (Advanced Master Keying) will be available after class to students who wish to take it. 505: Introduction to Safe Drilling (Day 2 of 2) See Class 405 description. 506: Transponders and Microcontrollers Manuel A. Natal, CRL, CMAL, CAI Class Content: 25% Lecture/75% Hands-On Class Limit: 20 This offering is in the continuing series of ALOA's dynamic automotive educational courses. As the evolution of electronic automotive security has evolved, so has the myriad and complexity of the transponders. Added to this complexity has been the introduction of microcontrollers that are also integrated into remote head and proximity keys. This integrated course will, through lecture and active participation, demystify this facet of automotive electronic security. Through the reading, writing, duplication, creation and the interchangeability of this seemingly endless variety of transponders with the use of the latest equipment from ILCO, Advanced Diagnostics and others, a solid understanding of transponders and microcontrollers will be achieved. Students are encouraged to bring up to seven used/locked proximity keys and their SMART PRO programmers. With a handful of transponders and the insights you will glean from this course, you will be knowledgeable in the integration, generation and/ or duplication of over 90% of the automotive transponders on the road today with the knowledge acquired in conjunction with the ALOA's other dynamic automotive courses, gains in automotive key production, profitability can easily increase 10-30% with decreased demands for inventory and increases in productivity and sales. 507: Asian Automotive Locking Systems - Servicing & Repairs Jennifer Richards, CRL, CMAL, CAI, and Dan Florko, CAI Class Content: 60% Lecture/40% Hands-On Class Limit: 30 This class will cover most Asian locking systems and how they are structured, including cutting keys, tumbler placements and how to rekey and service these locks. Hyundai/Kia, Subaru, Mazda and Toyota/Lexus are some of the manufacturers that will be covered. The class will focus on removing and repairing all vehicle lock cylinders. The class will be a mix of lecture and hands-on instruction. Students will have the opportunity to work with door, trunk and ignitions cylinders from multiple manufacturers. Completion of this class will give the students enough knowledge to competently service these vehicles in their day-to-day businesses. 508: Mercedes Benz 3-Day Locksmith Workshop (Day 3 of 3) See Class 308 description. 509: History of High Security/STRATTEC Update/ Pinning of Internal 2-Track Locks Jeff Baker, CAI, and Edward R. Woods, CML, CPS, CAL, CAI Class Content: 50% Lecture/50% Hands-On Class Limit: 30 Prerequisite: Familiarity with high security automotive locks is helpful but not required. This class is a joint venture with STRATTEC (Jeff Baker) and Ed Woods. First, there will be a presentation on the history of high security and all of the eight styles. Included is the evolution and what is used in today's GM, Ford, Chrysler and foreign auto manufacturers. We will then review STRATTEC updates and, most importantly, the hands-on pinning exercises including the all-new 2020 Ford internal two-track keyway used on the new 2020 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair. Ignition and door repair kits for Ford and GM will be assembled into fully functioning locks. Once you understand the inner workings of the locks through theory and hands on assembly, we will break out the tools used to pick and decode them. For the most part, Lishi and Accureader tools will be used in the afternoon practice session. 510: Revolutionize Your Automotive Expertise: Explore Automotive Control Units & Hands-On (Day 2 of 2) See Class 410 description.
