warranty LIMITED WARRANTY Thank you for choosing Resdoor as your entry door supplier. We take great pride in the doors we manufacture. We strive to use only the finest ma- terial from the nation’s most reliable mills. Before leaving our plant, your door has been sanded and inspected for defects in materials and workmanship. Resdoor warrants your door for one year according to the following information: BASIC LIMITED WARRANTY Doors manufactured by Resdoor (except those expressly excluded) are war- ranted for one year from date of shipment. They are warranted to be of good material and workmanship and to be free from defects at the time of ship- ment that would render them unserviceable or unfit for the ordinary purpose for which each door is recommended. Should the warranted door be found to contain defects as stated above, Resdoor will, at its option, either (1) repair any door without charge, or (2) replace any door without charge in the same stage of fitting and/or finishing as it was originally supplied or (3) refund the price received for any door. In the event of a defect reasonably discoverable by inspection of each door upon receipt of shipment from Resdoor, written notice must be given within thirty days thereafter and before the door is hung or treated in any manner. Any claims after this time should be filed promptly in writing with Resdoor. Res- door shall not be held liable for doors repaired or replaced within the one year period stated above without its prior written consent. Action on any claim for warp or defects may be deferred, at the option of Resdoor, for a period not to exceed 12 months from the date of claim. If a door has been installed prior to such claim being made, the door must remain hung in the original installation during the period of deferment, to permit conditioning to humidity and temperature. WARP TOLERANCE Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4 inch in the plane of the door itself. Doors wider than 3’0” or higher than 7’0” are not warranted against warp, bow or twist. Warp is any distortion in the door it- self, and does not refer to the relation of the door to the frame or jamb in which it is hung. The term warp shall include bow, cup and twist. In measuring the amount of warp present in a door, the following method shall be used: Bow, cup and twist shall be measured by placing a straightedge, taut wire or string on the suspected concave face of the door at any angle (i.e. horizontally, vertically, diagonally), with the door in its installed position. The measurement of bow, cup and twist shall be made at the point of maximum distance between the bottom of the straightedge, taut wire or string and the face of the door. EXCLUSIONS FROM THIS WARRANTY 1. The appearance of field finished doors is not covered by this Warranty in any event. 2. NATURAL VARIATIONS IN COLOR, TEXTURE, OR SURFACE CHECKING OF WOOD ARE NOT CONSIDERED DEFECTS. 3. The Warranty against warp does not apply to doors that are improperly hung or do not swing freely. 4. This Warranty does not cover any deterioration caused by failure to protect and seal all exposed surfaces and edges of the door either prior to or immediately after hanging. 5. Failure to follow “Handling, Job Finishing and Installation Instructions” as outlined in this Warranty. HANDLING, JOB FINISHING AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Doors shall always be stored on edge, supported vertically (not leaning), in clean, dry surroundings. 2. Doors shall not be exposed to excessive heat, dryness, humidity, or direct sunlight prior to finishing. 3. Handle doors with clean hands and do not drag across each other or other surfaces. 4. Deliver doors to job site after plaster or cement is dry. If doors are stored at job site for more than one week, all edges MUST be sealed. 5. All hardware locations, preparations for hardware, and methods of hardware attachment must be appropriate for the specific door. 6. All doors 7’ and under MUST have 3 hinges. Doors over 7’ MUST have 4 hinges. 7. Prior to finishing your door, remove all handling marks with 150 grit or finer sandpaper and remove all sanding dust. 8. Apply sealer, primer or first coat of the required finish immediately after fitting, cutting for hardware, weather stripping, etc., and before the installation of any hardware or hanging of the door. 9. All exposed surfaces of the door MUST be sealed, including the top and bottom rails AND hardware cut-outs. 10. Use only oil-based stains, sealers or primers on the door. If water-based paint is to be used, it MUST be applied over an oil-based primer. 11. All exterior surfaces, including the top, bottom and sides of the door MUST be finish coated with a good quality exterior grade paint or varnish. 12. In order not to induce warpage or excessive deterioration of your door, avoid using dark stains or paints on door surfaces exposed to direct sunlight. 13. Most finishes on exterior doors deteriorate relatively quickly. In order for exterior doors to continue receiving the protection required, inspect the condition of exterior finishes at least once a year and refinish as often as needed to maintain the protective integrity of the finish. THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES THAT EXTEND BEYOND THE FOREGOING, AND RESDOOR COMPANY’S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS AS STATED HEREIN. RESDOOR COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY AMOUNT IN EXCESS OF THE MANUFACTURER’S PRICE OR FOR ANY AMOUNT IN EXCESS OF THE MANUFACTURER’S PRICE FOR THE SHIPMENT INVOLVED, WHETHER THE CLAIM IS FOR BREACH OF WARRANTY OR NEGLIGENCE. MATERIAL DELIVERIES & RETURNS 1. Please inspect your delivered material carefully for completeness and condition. Note any discrepancies on the delivery ticket and we will make corrections at once. Standard materials that are undamaged and resaleable that are left over on jobs will be picked up for credit subject to restocking charges. 4. All glass noted as “broken” on delivery ticket will be replaced, otherwise at owners expense. A WORD ABOUT HARDWOOD DOORS Hardwood doors, like fine hardwood furniture, require special attention while in the unfinished state. We buy only the finest furniture grade hardwoods that have been dried to exacting specifications. We control the conditions under which your door is manufactured. Hardwood is desired for its aesthetics in making fine doors because of its rich grain, texture, structure, and density. These same attributes make the hardwood door, in its unfinished state, more susceptible than pine or other softwoods to expansion and contraction caused by temperature and humidity variations. Since these doors are shipped to you unsealed and unfinished, we cannot warrant against the natural characteristics of this wood which may occur in the various conditions encountered from our plant to your finished opening. Characteristics such as shrinking or cupping of panels, some surface checking, and slight shrinking or swelling which will expose small cracks at the joints may occur under certain conditions. However, these problems can be minimized or prevented by proper care and handling as outlined above. pho. [817] 834.8121 resdoor co. metro [817] 654.2151 fax [817] 838.3705
