Message from the President See What’s New at the Convention J uly is convention time for all ALOA members to meet in New Orlean for the greatest locksmith, electronics, and management training in North America There are a lot of new classes being offered, this year so don’t miss out. Between ou hotel and the convention center, there is a new air-conditioned cover mall, so you can get your last-minute shopping done on the way back to your room. For those member who have trouble walking, we will have a van to take you to and from the convention cente to the Hilton. Discount parking is available for all Hilton guests. We have a large number of new exhibitors offering the latest in electronic access hard ware, and CCTV components and equipment. The latest in new tools will be on display including the new video scopes from IDS. At SAFETECH, they sold out in 15 minutes and plan to bring more to New Orleans; don’t miss this one! Keyline will be showing new laser cutting key machines that were previewed at ELF this year. Ilco has some new and excitin machines, along with Framon, Jet and HPC. Come planning to upgrade your key machines It is ironic that in my last president’s page, I wrote about locksmiths cleaning up their im age — and what do we show but a piece from the new TV show of bubba and his sidekick the so-called safe experts. As my good friend and past president Breck Camp wrote me, “ wouldn’t let those two into my business!” It is a shame that TV producers are looking for ratings in every low-level program they offer. I was just at SAFETECH and saw not one safe man who looked like bubba! As a busi- ness owner, I don’t care how good of a safe guy you are; you are not representing my com- pany looking like a convicted biker! So let me stress this again: “Dress code for locksmiths should always be a clean collared shirt and jeans with appropriate footwear.” The ALOA Training Center in Dallas is where it is happening right now. Construction is underway, and I would like to ask each of you to make a donation to the educational build- ing fund to keep construction going until completed. I want to thank IDN and SDI distri- bution networks, Dugmore & Duncan and ASSA ABLOY for donating to the continued growth of our locksmith industry by supporting the school. I appreciate all of the e-mails I receive with suggestions and complaints; both are impor- tant to the continued growth of ALOA. Stay safe. Best regards, “We have a large number of new exhibitors offering the latest in electronic access hardware, and CCTV components and equipment.” Tom Demont, AHC, CAI, CFDI, CFL, CMIL, CML, CMST, IFDI, ARL President ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc.
