Membership Meeting Recap By the Minute Minutes from the 2013 Annual Membership Meeting of ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc. Thursday, July 18, 2013 1. President Tom Demont called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. 2. A quorum was present. 3. The pledge of allegiance was led by Secretary Tom Foxwell. 4. The President introduced the ALOA board. 5. A motion was made by Dana Barnum, #5444, and seconded by Barry Wilenski, #15140, to approve the minutes of the 2012 Annual Membership meeting. The vote was 100% approved. A motion was made by Barry Wilenski, #15140, and second- ed by Dana Barnum, #5444, to approve the minutes of the ALOA 2012 Election Meeting. The vote was 100% approved. 6. President Thomas R. Demont, CML, AHC, CPS, CFL, pro- vided his report on where ALOA SPAI now stands and where it is going. 7. Executive Director Mary A. May provided her report on the health and welfare of ALOA SPAI, as was published in Keynotes. 8. It was reported that the ALOA Scholarship Foundation pro- vided six scholarships this year, and that they are losing two board members. Anyone interested in volunteering for the ASF Board should contact Lynn Best of Kaba Ilco. 9. Industry awards were presented. a. ALOA SPAI Education Director Jim Hancock advised the members that the ACE Award was retired as of 2012. The first name on the yearly award plaque and the last name is Ray D’Adamo. The new Ace Award will now be the Ray D’Adamo Ace Instructors Award starting in 2013. b. Hancock awarded the 2013 Ray D’Adamo Ace Instructors Award to two instructors this year: Ed Woods CML, CPS, CAL; and Dave Thielen, CML. c. Peter Fields, a past recipient of the ALOA Award, pro- vided a historical and personal insight into what this award means to the industry and to each past recipient. The ALOA Award past recipients were asked to come for- ward to receive a certificate of appreciation, and then Past ALOA President Breck Camp awarded the 2013 ALOA Award to Billy B. Edwards. President Tom Demont awarded a Lifetime Membership to Billy B. Edwards. d. Keynotes editor Mario Medina presented the 2013 Key- notes Author of the Year award to Bill Lynk. 10. Special presentations were awarded by President Tom De- mont to the outgoing directors Tom Ripp, North Central di- rector, and Greg Parks, Southwest director; they were thanked for their many years of service. 11. President Tom Demont asked for a motion to destroy the 2013 Election ballots. A motion was made by Bill Timmons, #23288, and seconded by Barry Wilenski, #15140. The motion to destroy the 2013 election ballots was approved. 12. ALOA SPAI attorney Barry Roberts swore in the newly elected directors and the entire existing board, including Ex- ecutive Director Mary May, into the new corporation ALOA SPAI. 13. Bob Mock advised the members of the outstanding work that Director Humberto Villegas has put forth in the creation of the ALOA Latino Convention, and in organizing the ALOA Latino Division of ALOA SPAI. There was a standing ovation by the members. 14. A motion was made by Joe Reustle, #26472, and seconded by Bill Timmons, #15140, to adjourn the 2013 Members Meeting.
