What’s New H er name was The Dixie Locksmith Association. She was born on Sun- day April 17, 1966, at the Holiday Inn in downtown Atlanta, GA. Her found- ing parents were: C. H. Sanders of C. H. Sanders-Locksmith, Macon, GA; Temporary President Bill Downs of Bill Downs-Locksmith of Athens, GA; Temporary Treasurer George Pinson of Downs Locksmith of Atlanta, GA Temporary Secretary Virl Mullins of Armstrong’s Lock and Supply was the attending physician. She passed away quietly on October 19, 2013, at 47 years of age. In attendance were a number of her old friends: Freddy Smith, a past president, and his wife, Sarah, who was Secretary of DLA; Scott White, current president; Pat Patterson, Sergeant at Arms; Charles Browning and Bill Coe; and Danny Rudd, one of the earliest members, and his wife, Nell. She will be missed by all who knew her or were associated with her during the 47 years of her life. She was a grand lady who lived an excit- ing and productive life from many years. There was a Gerry Connelly of Sargent and Greenlea who spoke eloquently of her prospects in t world of locksmiths and security. Additio ally, Cal Brittell of Independent Lock C (ILCO) was there to talk about master ke ing, a topic which was very important to h During her life she helped many people b holding conventions in which she brought i teachers to present education, and manuf turers to show her members all of the lat products. She provided an insurance pla so that members could always be cover for treatment whether employed or not. During her lifespan, she was visited by numerous dignitaries, including a number of ALOA presidents. Those who were with her on her last day were sad that this feisty lady was gone, but The Dixie Locksmith Association, which launched in 1966, “died” last year. looked back and celebrated her life and agreed that there would never be another like her. — Virl Mullins Mississippi Passes Locksmith Licensing Bill M ississippi SenateBill Number 2697 was signed into law by the Missis- sippi governor and will go into effect on July 1, 2014.
